The Menu
We’ve moved recently and Saturday we had our first dinner guests in the new apartment. My challenge was to prepare a menu that would appeal to everyone without driving me completely insane, because this time around I left everything to the last minute. It was the first time that we had ever invited these friends into our home and I was a little unsure of what they would and wouldn’t like. I finally came up with this menu that reflects my Abruzzese heritage as well as my very North American dedication to rich desserts!
Spaghetti all chitarra with mushrooms, white truffle oil and saffron
Lamb roasted in red wine
Roast Potatoes and salad
White Chocolate Cheesecake
Red Wine: Bùcaro – Montepulciano D’Abruzzo DOC
Recipes coming up next week but here is a sneak preview:

The Memory
For some reason this time of year seems to trigger more childhood memories than any other. I particularly remember an old box camera of my father’s that he gave me when I was 11 or 12. It was in excellent condition except for the flash, so I could only take pictures outdoors. I seem to remember that he gave it to me at Easter, but my memory could be playing tricks on me. I distinctly remember taking my first picture with it, one of the whole family, all dressed up and on our way to mass. I wonder where that picture is now and whatever happened to that old box camera.

YUM!
Oh, I wish I were closer and could come to dinner at your house
. I love, love, love Italian food. I secretly wish I could cook more elaborate meals, but my schedule and short span of attention just keep me away. I found Paula Dean about a year ago, and when I feel like a super delicious, not healthy, soulfood meal or cake, I call on Paula
.
Thanks for playing along with the Meme, and for calling me fabulous
. And how you could become an adult without ever tasting a PopTart is a mystery to me!
No pop tarts at my house when I was growing up, but we ALWAYS had Nutella in the cupboard!
